RECIPE – BEETROOT SMOOTHIE

Beetroots are full of nutritional value and have antioxidant properties. They have vibrant colour and make excellent smoothie. This healthy refreshing smoothie is delicious, and packed with instant energy.

Ingredients

1 big sized beetroot

½ cup chilled milk of your choice

2 ½ tbsp vanilla icecream

1 tsp honey

1 tbsp unrefined sugar

1/4 tsp cardamom or cinnamon or a pinch of grated nutmeg

ice cubes / crushed ice

Method

Boil beetroot in a pressure cooker with enough water for 10 minutes. Remove, cool and peel the skin off.

In a blender, add all ingredients along with the beetroot and whiz until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.

My observations/notes :

  • can use soy milk or almond milk

  • can combine apple, carrot or strawberry with beetroot to make this smoothie.

1 avocado (washed/pitted/peeled and cut in chunks)

1 ½ – 2 cup cold milk of your choice

1 tin condensed milk

¼ cup cream

¼ tsp vanilla

1 tbspn honey/sugar (optional)

pinch of salt

ice cubes / crushed ice

Method

Combine all ingredients in a blender and whiz until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.

for healthier version, skip condensed milk and cream and add fruits of your choice
